Dr. Mayeda is an established and highly skilled physician with over 30 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. He is honored to continue serving patients in southeastern Connecticut as an independent physician in private practice with an exclusive focus on the full continuum of gynecologic care.
Dr. Mayeda earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Fairfield University where he was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital- At the time, the largest-volume surgical hospital east of Mississippi.
He is a Diplomate of the American College of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American Medical Association. He holds full privileges at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and William W. Backus Hospital.
Dr. Mayeda was the Physician-Champion of Lawrence and Memorial Hospital's Robotic Surgery Program. As the original visionary and founder, he executed its implementation and facilitated its exponential growth. Independently, he sought advanced training under the tutelage of nationally recognized experts, becoming the first ob/gyn in eastern Connecticut to do so. One of the many outcomes was his invention and pioneering of a hybrid single-site gynecologic surgical technique.
Dr. Mayeda met the rigorous requirements and criteria to achieve a focused practice designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2021, the year of its inaugural offerings- thus becoming one of the most elite gynecologic surgeons in the country.
Dr. Mayeda was raised in the Hartford area where his parents taught him that excellence is not the only action, but an intrinsic habit considered ordinary and necessary. He attended local public schools and graduated from South Catholic High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Since childhood, Dr. Mayeda has had roots in the southeastern Connecticut community. He summered with his family in a home that his father built in Giants Neck Heights, worked full time seasonal jobs, and made lifelong friends. In 1990, he and his wife, Mary, moved permanently to Waterford where they raised their family and continue to love living in this beautiful coastal community.
